It seems that everytime I turn around there is someone getting laid off, or work hours are getting cut, or an unemployed friend hasn't been able to find a job in months. Everyone is kind of sitting at their desks a little more paranoid than ever. Scary......Scary situations, indeed. I find myself being more conscious of what I'm spending when I go shopping. I'm cutting back here and there too. Manicures and Pedicures are few and far between, which makes me wonder how well those girls are doing themselves. Ouch! My hair, or better yet, the staw hat on top of my head.....has been neglected too! :) The amount that it costs to maintain a cute cut or some chunky highlights now seems like an atrocity to spend! My husband and I used to eat out 4-5 times a week (I know, that's a ton LOL) NOW, it's much less....It's actually quite surprising how much healthier it is to cook at home...Wanna lose some wieght? Eat at home for a while!
For all the people who have been directly hit by this economic crisis, it's a bit of a wake up call to re-evaluate some things. It's been about 7 months since I got laid off and I think it's given me the opportunity to take some time for myself. I take care of my body more! I actually have time to go to the gym. I can go during "normal" daytime hours, not when its a zoo after 5pm. I have more time to do some 'good wifey' duties so I make my husband breakfast almost every morning before he goes to work (he's very lucky to have a wife who is a morning person!). Lastly, but oh-so-important, I've been able to dedicate more time to my business & my blog.
I can't lie...I do feel bored out of my mind sometimes and will head over to scan careerbuilder or monster, but I quickly find something to keep busy with when the results are crappy.
Re-evaluating life once in a while is not always a bad thing ;)
