Babymoon Time

by franci 28. January 2009 21:40

We've been married now for about 17 months and the baby fever is creeping in! In all honesty, we've both been pretty anxious to start our family, but we're cautious to not jump the gun. I just turned 29 and that was a little scary for me. So scary infact, that I had blocked it out completely. I honestly and truly thought I was still 28 until hubby viciously broke the bubble today and reminded me that if we got pregnant this year, I would most likey be a 30 year old first time mommy. Thanks honey!!!!

It was agreed upon fairly early that our Euro trip had to come before little munchkins. So....it only seemed natural that this should be our babymoon (babymoon - a romantic baby making vacay! hehehe). We've traveled a lot together, but his trip in particular has me so super excited since neither of us have been to Europe!! I just wanted to share the 4 countries that we've narrowed it down to....so far.

Top priorities:

#1 Romance

#2 Relaxation

#3 Baby! lol...

What do you think?

Any tips on time of the year to go, romantic hotels, Italian beaches....etc. Anyone have invaluable European experiences that they would love to share? Please leave comments!! Can't wait to hear stories or suggestions!

Thanks ;)

Commercial or Romantic?!

Either way, Whether you believe in the holiday or not it's always a perfect excuse to express some love and appreciation for the people you love! Most of the time, busy everyday lives get in the way of quality time and romance so here are some get-in-the-mood for Valentines Day images!

Which one gets you in the mood? :)

Hot Pink Madness

by franci 27. January 2009 08:47

A friend of mine is having a baby and her nusery is hot pink! What a rockin baby that will be, huh? Hot Pink is my new favorite color (until I get sick of it in a couple of months and pick a new one! lol) Here are some fab hot pink ideas for sweets, dresses, weddings, parties, shoes, art and gorgeous flowers.

Pictured above is the beautiful and always put together, but waaay too skinny, Mrs. Beckham with a hot pink Hermes bag (yea, I never said you could actually afford everything I picked out! BUT we can dream, girls.) Hot, hot shoes from Zappos.com Chloe Sevigny in a super short & chic Luella mini dress. Hot pink flowers, yummmmmy cupcakes and the gorgeous fashion icon Marilyn Monroe.

A standing ovation for the fashionista that is Gwen Stefani, skipping the traditional route to don a hot pink and white wedding dress! Pretty Gerbera daisies, more yummy cupcakes, a candy necklace, & chic shoes from zappos.com once again. A cute Donna Ricco hot pink dress....Izze has awesome bottles that are simply designed and yummy enough to serve at any party & match almost an color scheme. For the daring ones (like me, 10 years ago!) you could sport some hot pink hair??!! Ok, so maybe that's a stretch, but it would absolutely be fun! Hot pink incorporated into invitations, announcements, & favors is always fun as well as some pink coral, for a centerpiece.....

Enjoy the Pink!

Cigarette Girl Scout Cookies?

by franci 23. January 2009 12:43

I looooove sweets....I lose all self control around them. It's a serious problem, which is why I didn't hesitate at all when I saw two mothers at Starbucks with huge boxes full of Girl Scout Cookies. Yes!....Nooooooo!! I was all excited and pissed at the same time. Thinking, you know, I bust my butt at spin class 4 times a week to let it all go down the drain with a couple of boxes of Samoas? Crap.....BUT as I'm walking toward them, with self control totally out the window, I realize that they are both smoking cigarettes. Now, I do not smoke and I don't really care if you smoke, but come on! I swear, they both looked like chimneys and all the smoke was blowing in the direction of my Samoas! I turned around thinking that #1. As a mother of a girl scout shouldn't you be setting a better example for your daughters? I can only crack up laughing when I picture a dozen girl scouts rebelliously smoking cigarettes in their uniforms thinking, hey, my mom smokes. #2 My Samoas just won't taste the same with a tobacco aftertaste, Yuck! I'm glad I didn't get the cookies, but I'm sure the girls will find me the next time I'm walking out of the grocery store. Which reminds me..........We really need milk! ;)

Making the best of it all

by franci 21. January 2009 19:50

It seems that everytime I turn around there is someone getting laid off, or work hours are getting cut, or an unemployed friend hasn't been able to find a job in months. Everyone is kind of sitting at their desks a little more paranoid than ever. Scary......Scary situations, indeed. I find myself being more conscious of what I'm spending when I go shopping. I'm cutting back here and there too. Manicures and Pedicures are few and far between, which makes me wonder how well those girls are doing themselves. Ouch! My hair, or better yet, the staw hat on top of my head.....has been neglected too! :) The amount that it costs to maintain a cute cut or some chunky highlights now seems like an atrocity to spend! My husband and I used to eat out 4-5 times a week (I know, that's a ton LOL) NOW, it's much less....It's actually quite surprising how much healthier it is to cook at home...Wanna lose some wieght? Eat at home for a while!

For all the people who have been directly hit by this economic crisis, it's a bit of a wake up call to re-evaluate some things. It's been about 7 months since I got laid off and I think it's given me the opportunity to take some time for myself. I take care of my body more! I actually have time to go to the gym. I can go during "normal" daytime hours, not when its a zoo after 5pm. I have more time to do some 'good wifey' duties so I make my husband breakfast almost every morning before he goes to work (he's very lucky to have a wife who is a morning person!). Lastly, but oh-so-important, I've been able to dedicate more time to my business & my blog.

I can't lie...I do feel bored out of my mind sometimes and will head over to scan careerbuilder or monster, but I quickly find something to keep busy with when the results are crappy.

Re-evaluating life once in a while is not always a bad thing ;)

Winter, Spring and Fall Scarves

by franci 15. January 2009 15:22

Friago is now carrying scarves....and all you fashion forward ladies listen up! They are handmade & can be custom-made (who doesn't love that?!) They are gorgeous, fun & flirty (again, who doesn't love that?!) and they are extremely reasonably priced, I KNOW we all love that! If you want Long & chunky - $35, Light & Skinny - $30 They come in a yummy assortment of colors & sizes for all seasons.

Take a peek at a few of them:

From my own experience, I can tell you that I get sick and tired of looking for accessories or even clothing that has some kind of original flare. Everything is mass produced, every store carries the same crap and, in most cases, it's all very visibly cheap.
Geez, is that enough of a rant for you or what? hehehe...
But really now, back to the subject, these scarves are crotchet from nylon ribbon and really look stunning on.
My mother-in-law just sold one right off her neck!
That, in itself, goes to show you how hungry consumers are to show off something new and unique!

Currently they are ONLY available through The Friago Etsy shop....
Keep an eye out they are coming soon to the official Friago Boutique!!
They can be worn in sooo many different ways to match your mood or outift:
If you have suggestions for colors or patterns you might like to see, please let us know!
